This February and March, we're taking a pilgrimage to the north of Italy - Like, really north. We’ve teamed up with the iconic Ski resort of Courmayeur Mont Blanc to bring you a pizza collab celebrating the flavours of the Italian alps to our pizzerias. Say hello to La Fonduta!
Last month we jumped on a plane to Turin and booked ourselves into a cute little snowy hotel in the heart of Courmayeur to explore the amazing food of the region and meet the star of the show Fontina DOP - a nutty, buttery cheese that melts like a dream and is only produced in the region of Valle D’Aosta.
We got to meet the cheese makers and watch them making Fontina by hand (check our socials to this happening!). We then decamped to a local pizzeria ‘La Padella’ to develop this pizza with a big handful of the Fontina, mozzarella, herb roasted potatoes, rosemary vinaigrette and finished with chopped chives.
The result is an indulgent, warm hug of a pizza and perfect tribute to the towns most famous dish La Fonduta (AKA Italian cheese fondue). So if you fancy a little slice of the Italian alps in your life this winter, pop by a pizza pilgrims for a Fonduta!
Oh and while you’re at it, follow it up with a Bombardino, the infamous hot custard and rum shot traditionally drunk up the mountain and topped with whipped cream. Va bene!
