This May, the spotlight is on the small but mighty anchovy.
But hold on... we aren’t talking about the ones lurking sadly on the shelf of your local supermarket. We’re talking about the real deal – the gold standard of anchovies!
Last month, we packed our bags and headed to Cetara (we love a trip!) to see where these little flavour bombs come from - a tiny, sun-soaked fishing village clinging to the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast. Cetara’s anchovies are DOP protected sustainably caught, hand-processed, and aged in chestnut barrels to develop that rich, umami depth. Think salty, savoury, and deeply meaty, with none of that fishiness some people fear.
Our amazing supplier Armatore is keeping the old-school traditions alive, working with nature, not against it. Seeing the care and passion behind every jar made us fall in love with anchovies all over again.
So say hello to our newest guest pizza - The Amalfi Coast – a homage to one of the most beautiful corners of Italy. We’ve taken those world-class anchovies and laid them gently over a bed of mozzarella, with Piennolo tomatoes, capers, garlic oil, fresh basil and olives. Finished with a touch of oregano and a glug of extra virgin olive oil.
The result? A pizza that tastes like a slice of Amalfi sunshine.
These anchovies may be pricey, but when the quality is this good, it's worth it. It’s the kind of pizza that might just convert even the most committed anchovy sceptic. Never say never 😉!
